By Wolf-Dieter Upphoff
24 pages. Illustrated with 49 colour photographs, with one technical drawings.
From the early 1970s the West German Federal Ministry for research and technology funded research for high speed rail traffic to the tune of DM 450 million. A proportion of this funded the development of a high speed passenger train, the ICE, which was introduced to the public in November 1985.
This booklet describes in detail the InterCity Express family of trains evolved from the first experimental units.
